Happy New Year!

I know I have been one terrible blogger, but much to my surprise, none of ya'll have left my site yet! Not too much is going on with my hair, I am trying to keep it simple, every night I try to spray Aussie Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner and seal with coconut oil...that has been keeping my hair nice and soft...I did dilute my leave in alot because I didn't like the stickyness of it.

For a long time I had been doing no moisturizing or sealing and I realized something. I HAVE TO! Other wise I have straw hair and split ends everywhere...just a little post to let you know I am alive =) I will try to post a style soon =)

Braidout + Rain = Frizz =)

Hey!! So I braided my hair for a braidout on Saturday and unravel the braids Sunday morning…it was nice and shiny because I used a GrapeseedOil/Water mixture as my

light boost of moisture, Shea butter to seal, (my ends mainly), and Eco Styler Moroccan Argan Oil Gel as my styler…then at after Church I got caught in the rain…oh well =( My hair is all frizz now =) lol

My hair after unraveling:

My hair today (Day 3) in a big high (dry) bun:

Lol I know the pictures are supa big, srry...but...

Sorry :S I've been making more videos than blog posts. I do have a life other than hair! lol. Any who I have a protective style in right now: 32 chunky plaits and I luv it! There is one braid that's too big so I'll split into three braids then there will be 35 :) I have been moisturizing 2x daily w/ conditioner/water mixture and it's amazing! Pics soon! I will be shampooing and conditioning my braids today :)

I have made some changes to my regimen so here's the final cut:

Shampoo and condition 2x week with a sulfate or non-sulfate shampoo

Deep condition 1x week when my hair is dry dry!

Cowash every other day every three days!

Always moisturizing daily with a natural oil or conditioner.

Protective styles 24/7, often, and wash 'n' gos too, (there will be a post on that soon!)

Damp bun daily, or dry bun. Ocassional braidout.

Sometimes I do braids or cornrows...more in the summer.

*I am using my moisturizing mix when I do wash 'n' go styles* see Natural hair recipes

In the week I'll do a few light cleanses with Dr. Bronners peppermint castile soap.

WEAR A SCARF OUTSIDE WITH BRAIDS, so I don't get sunburn on my scalp.

1x month do a deep clean (comment for more info)

1x month every now and then I'll do a coconut cream relaxer using Mahoganyknots' method.

Joy Gilmore, founder of Beautiful Kinks and Coils

I created beautifulkinksandcoils because I struggled when I saw beautiful girls with beautiful hair, believing they had “bad” hair and getting a relaxer for the rest of their life. Instead of embracing natural hair and teaching their girls to love their kinks, mothers planted bad seeds, by saying “do you ever wish you had good hair” or “your hair is so bad.” Going through pains to have “good” hair meant scalp burns and broken hair. You reap what you sow and what was sown was a new generation of black women that weren’t happy with what God gave them. I hope that in creating natural hair sites and blogs we can start a natural hair revolution. I can’t see women believing “good” and “bad” hair lies anymore who have never seen the real texture that lies beneath the relaxed hair. Did you know that “nappy, new growth” that can be “taken care of” with a relaxer, is actually beautiful kinks and curls drowning in a sea of careless habits and chemicals? I can respect those with relaxed hair that take care of it, when her new growth comes in; she moisturizes and doesn’t call it “bad nappy hair.” The next time you feel like saying “she’s got bad nappy knotty hair” say “she’s got beautiful kinks and coils” like the old saying says “ if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all” NOW that you’ve read my take on it, you can learn tips and tricks, ask me questions, and more! If you’re having fun, write in the guestbook and become a member!
